Project Description

Company Furinkai / Satchie Noro & Silvain Ohl (FR): Origami

The cold metal container evokes the construction and, in particular, the docks with their transhipment points of the globalized trading world. But the Japanese-French performer Satchie Noro sees it differently, adding poetry and playfulness to Silvain Ohl’s sophisticated design. Divided into three parts, the container creates an impressive decoration, a theatrical scenery in which a dancer moves slowly and thoughtfully, not denying her love for the new circus. It does not seek out effects, but accuracy at all times; dancing is the driving force of metamorphosis – in the changes of body and space perspective. Its industrial romance forces us to stop in time, to immerse ourselves in our own, purely poetic asylum in the midst of the everyday greyness.

Satchie Noro (FR)

Satchie Noro is a dancer, choreographer, aerial acrobat and co-director of the space Les Noctambules for the new circus in Nanterre. After classical dance studies, she tried the traditional and alternative scenes in Berlin and later returned to France, where she fell in love with new circus and later got involved in the community work of artists. In 2002, she set up her own ensemble Furinkaï to independently explore movement in unconventional spaces, the relationship of object, body and music. She was interested in both performance and installation and later social projects. In 2013, she developed her work with Silvain Ohl from a container, later continuing in Valparaiso, Chile, and launched the premiere of Origami at the Biennale de Val-de-Marne with the music of saxophonist and composer Fred Costa.
